We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our dynamic Nuclear Medicine department at Coventry. The role will support the physics team by managing set-up and radioactive decontamination for molecular radiotherapies, overseeing the contamination monitor and gamma probe QC programme, assisting and leading on radioactive waste audits and disposals, and ensuring radiation safety compliance.
The department has recently undergone an equipment refresh, including an Omni Legend 32 digital PET scanner, Starguide gamma camera, Aurora SPECT CT, and Optima SPECT CT camera. We have an onsite Radiopharmacy with Technetium and Gallium suites for PET imaging.
Our services include SIRT, Lu-177 Dota and PSMA molecular radiotherapies, I-131 ablation, and thyrotoxicosis therapy. We are involved in research projects, including a UK-first trial of a mobile PET CT scanner for tumour margin assessment during excision.
The team comprises administrative staff, nurses, technologists, radiographers, physicists, healthcare assistants, and radiologists.
The post would suit physics graduates seeking experience prior to medical physics STP application.
Successful applicants will need to provide an immunisation and vaccination report from their current UK occupational health provider or GP.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Provide operational and scientific support to the Nuclear Medicine service.
2. Undertake procedures following the quality assurance program for Nuclear Medicine equipment, ensuring safe use of complex imaging equipment, scheduled around availability and clinical workload.
3. Assist with radiation protection duties, including contamination monitoring, decontamination, and waste disposal.
4. Help collect and collate data relevant to the Nuclear Medicine service.
Secondment options will be considered for internal candidates, subject to managerial approval.
