Corporate Health & Safety Manager - Local Authority
Location: Hybrid (3 days on-site across council sites and schools)
Contract: Rolling 3-month contract
Rate: £650 per day (Umbrella)
A local authority is seeking an experienced Corporate Health & Safety Manager to lead and oversee health and safety compliance across schools and council-owned buildings.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing corporate health and safety policies, ensuring compliance with legislation, and promoting a strong safety culture across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain corporate health and safety policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and best practice
Conduct risk assessments, audits, and site inspections across council buildings and schools
Deliver health and safety training and promote staff awareness
Investigate incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and preventative measures
Maintain records and produce reports on health and safety performance
Provide advice and guidance to managers and present updates to the Corporate Leadership Team
Requirements
Degree or relevant qualification in Health & Safety or related field
Significant experience in health and safety management
Experience within a local authority, education, or large multi-site organisation desirable
Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
Working Arrangements
Hybrid working with 3 days per week on-site across council locations.
Rate: £650 per day (Umbrella)
Contract: Rolling 3 months
