Job Description
Dickson House is a Psychologically Informed Planned Environment (PIPE) and has been awarded Enabling Environment status by the RCPsych. It involves working with individuals with personality disorders or difficulties. The PIPE model emphasizes a relational approach, requiring close engagement with staff and residents. Training and support will be provided.
Overview Of The Job
Post holders will undertake offender management tasks with individuals on probation, including assessment, sentence implementation, and report writing, following service procedures and practice directions.
Summary
The role involves assessing and managing risks posed by individuals on probation to protect victims and the public, including:
* Providing advice to courts and criminal justice agencies
* Supervising individuals on probation and during custodial sentences
* Contributing to risk management
* Working with agencies to prevent crime and support victims
The post holder must demonstrate commitment to equality, inclusion, and confidentiality.
Responsibilities, Activities & Duties
* Providing professional advice and reports to courts and agencies
* Managing offenders assessed at all risk levels
* Using computer systems to maintain records
* Facilitating referrals and relationships with partner agencies
* Representing PS at partnership forums
* Collaborating with colleagues and providing guidance
* Providing cover and conducting visits as required
* Delivering accredited programmes and conducting tests
* Carrying out safeguarding duties and demonstrating pro-social behaviour
Technical Skills
Must hold a Probation Officer qualification or be a qualified Probation Officer, with relevant degrees or diplomas as specified. Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and relevant legislation is required.
Person Specification
Qualifications include a PQF Honours Degree, Graduate Diploma, Level 5 Diploma in Probation, or equivalent. Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and standards is essential.
