Responsibilities
In this role, as a Principal Transport Engineer, you'll:
* Lead cutting‑edge projects in active travel, street design, and traffic engineering
* Contribute to innovative solutions for cycle priority and traffic signal design
* Apply and evolve best practices in urban transport planning
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable mobility solutions
Qualifications
* Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (Engineering) and have achieved or be working towards a relevant professional accreditation e.g. CEng or CTPP.
* Experience in the Traffic Engineering field with the ability to contribute to the success of a range of high‑profile transport projects, particularly in an urban environment, and experience in cycle priority and traffic signal design desirable.
* Experience in applying design standards, that may include the Designing Streets, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Cycling by Design or Local Authority Street Design guidance.
* Technical aptitude and experience in design and modelling software packages particularly AutoCad and LinSig.
* Ability to liaise and communicate with clients and manage tasks using appropriate programmes, budgets and quality controls.
Location
* This role can be based on a Hybrid basis from either our Glasgow or Edinburgh offices.
Working hours and flexibility
Full‑time employment with Jacobs is @ 40 hours per week, however work‑life balance and flexibility is a key focus area for Jacobs and we’re happy to discuss hybrid, part‑time and flexible working hours to suit you and our business.
