Senior Test Engineer - Warrington (Hybrid) - £50,000 + Bonus + Benefits
The Role
You'll sit within a cross‑functional delivery team, working closely with Engineers, Product, and Design to ensure quality is built into everything from day one. This is not a "test at the end" role, you'll shape how quality is approached across the full lifecycle, influencing design, delivery, and production outcomes.
The Opportunity
This is a role where you'll drive a quality‑first mindset, embedding best practices, improving how the team works, and ensuring releases are both fast and reliable. You'll help move quality earlier into the process (shift‑left), while also using real production insights to improve decisions (observability‑led quality).
There's strong scope to influence how QA operates within the team, from testing strategy through to continuous improvement.
What You'll Be Doing
1. Driving QA strategy and best practices within an Agile delivery team
2. Ensuring tests are applied at the right level (unit, integration, end‑to‑end) for effective coverage and risk mitigation
3. Embedding shift‑left testing, ensuring quality is considered early in design and development
4. Leading exploratory testing to uncover issues real users might experience
5. Using monitoring, metrics, and logs to drive observability‑led quality and improve production outcomes
6. Identifying risks early and helping the team make informed decisions
7. Improving QA processes, standards, and ways of working across the team
8. Mentoring QA colleagues and working closely with engineers to build a culture of quality
9. Supporting automation strategies and ensuring the right tests are prioritised
What You Bring
10. Strong experience in modern QA practices including shift‑left, exploratory testing, and Agile delivery
11. Experience working across API testing, SQL, and testability practices
12. A solid understanding of the testing pyramid and risk‑based quality approaches
13. Experience using data, metrics, and observability to improve quality outcomes
14. A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and team collaboration
15. Ability to balance speed, risk, and quality to support confident releases
The Benefits:
As well as working within a supportive team you'll have these perks available, and much more:
16. Salary £50,000
17. Hybrid working
18. Enhanced company pension
