Job Description:

Job overview

This is an exciting and rare opportunity to support transformational change, quality improvements and value by using effective and sustainable approaches to improve the quality and experience for patients receiving spinal cord injury care within the Network geography.

This role has leadership and management responsibility for the Spinal Cord Injury Operational Delivery Network (ODN) in the Southwest (including that part of the South East region covered by the Wessex Major Trauma Centre, which also comprises part of the catchment of the Salisbury Spinal Injuries Centre). It is advertised on a 0.5 WTE basis and hosted by Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, but is suitable to be fulfilled on a remote working basis, with some requirement for occasional travel across the network area.

Main duties of the job

This role will involve complex negotiation, be required to influence leadership discussions and lead on the management and co-ordination of the network by understanding current pan-network service provision, support the strategic development of spinal care throughout the region and build a commitment to partnership working; which will improve and align spinal cord injury services, achieving sustainable, efficient and effective services which meet high-quality standards and indicators capable of meeting all NHS statutory and regulatory requirements.

The post holder, alongside the Clinical Director, will set strategic direction and the operational management for the ODN by way of leading the network team and ensuring partnership working across key constituent stakeholders, to promote system and network ambitions, achieving the agreed annual priorities and delivery of key work programme objectives; ultimately demonstrating measurement and oversight with clear, evidenced outcomes and benefits for patients and their care.

This post will require the post holder to influence and inform workstreams across a regional footprint and build on the positive work to date including whole pathway reviews for specific elective and emergency pathways. Therefore, this post would be of interest to individuals who want to improve the care of whole populations along specific condition pathways, in addition to those who have an interest in stakeholder engagement and relationship building.
