Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support the Commercial Manager by helping to drive efficiencies, manage costs, and oversee regional performance for our clients. You will be responsible for all financial aspects of projects, including commercial and contractual matters, aiming to deliver desired margins through high standards of commercial acumen. You will also identify, record, and track risks and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and monitor project costs, including weekly P&L reporting.
* Review contract documents and advise on issues.
* Track project progress and cash flow forecasts.
* Produce and review commercial forecasts, Cost Value Reconciliation (CVRs), and Project Finance Reports.
* Manage subcontracting activities, including forecasting, raising orders, and negotiating terms.
* Prepare subcontract documents, solicit quotations, and assess bids.
* Place subcontract orders, certify valuations, and manage payments and final accounts.
* Handle site-level change management, communication with clients and supply chain, including early warnings and compensation events.
* Manage project changes, variations, and notices.
* Ensure accurate cost capture across contracts and support scheme forecasts and risk profiling.
* Prepare interim valuations and payment applications, and finalize accounts.
* Participate in risk reviews, planning, and commercial meetings on-site with stakeholders.
* Assist in tenders and pricing, including estimating and procurement.
* Support credit control with cash recovery and forecasting.
* Assist operational teams with daily commercial and contractual tasks.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Experience and Qualifications
* Degree qualification (RICS accredited or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
* Experience in the Utilities industry is preferred.
* Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to engage, prioritize, and collaborate effectively.
* Experience in contract administration, preferably with NEC contracts.
* Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work under pressure.
* Excellent communication skills.
* High attention to detail.
* Proficient in IT, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
