The Department for Communities (DfC), established in May 2016, following the restructuring of the NI Departments plays a vital role in Northern Ireland, by supporting people, building communities and shaping places. DfC is the largest of the nine NICS Departments and works with 15 Arm’s Length Bodies. Around 7,900 people are employed directly by the Department, accounting for one third of NICS employees. The Final 2025-26 Budget for the Department is £11.7 billion, including Annual Management Expenditure (AME) of £10.4 billion largely for social security and pension payments.In supporting and advising the Minister, the Department’s main functions include:The promotion of healthy housing and the provision of decent, affordable, sustainable homes and housing support services.A social welfare system including focused support to the most disadvantaged areas.Providing training and support to jobseekers and employers.Bringing divided communities together by creating urban centres which are sustainable, welcoming and accessible to live, work and relax in peace.Supporting Local Government to deliver effective public service.Maximising public benefits from the culture, arts and leisure sectors; andTackling disadvantage and promoting equality of opportunity by reducing poverty, promoting and protecting the interests of children, older people, people with disabilities, and other socially excluded groups, addressing inequality and disadvantage.The Department has six core business groups, each headed by a Deputy Secretary. Responsibilities
* In collaboration with the PRONI Senior Management Team, lead on the strategic development of PRONI. To contribute to the delivery of effective and efficient services and delivery of Branch business plans.
* Manage and monitor branch financial, governance and human resources to deliver services and performance objectives to the required standard.

Skills and Qualifications
* Applicants must, by the closing date for applications have: at least a second-class honours degree in any discipline
* At least one of the following: (i) A recognised post-graduate archival or records/information management qualification e.g Diploma in Archive Administration or an MA in Archive Administration or Records Management
* OR(ii) At least 1 years’ experience in applying archival and records/information management principles, policies and practices
* AND3. At least 2 years’ experience of demonstrating leadership in the development and implementation of archival and / or records/information management policies and / or procedures.
* In addition, applicants should be aware that after an eligibility sift, should it be necessary to shortlist candidates to go forward to interview, the Panel will carry out an objective evaluation of the information provided by candidates in response
