Thames Valley Police (TVP) have the vision to be an excellent police service, trusted by all their communities. To achieve this vision and deliver their strategic aims and objectives, they are seeking highly motivated, skilled investigation support officers to join them in Reading Police Station, with a move to a new location in Reading scheduled for October 2025.
£27,449 per annum (2E Band) + contributory pension scheme. Office-based hours. Strict police vetting will be conducted.
Unit - Assessment and Investigation Unit (AIU). Must have the capability to travel to different locations across the Force and undertake all assignments in a timely manner. Due to the need for flexible working hours, unsocial hours, and lone working safety considerations, public transport may not always be available or suitable. Therefore, a full UK driving licence is essential.
Role Purpose
You will provide effective support within a mixed team of Police Officers and staff, including administrative tasks, evidence collection, and recording tasks on Niche RMS.
Accountabilities
* Undertake evidence collection accurately and efficiently to support investigations.
* Record witness accounts in statements that meet evidential standards and CPS guidelines.
* Perform tasks as directed by an OIC or supervisor, such as house-to-house enquiries, media footage handling, and exhibit management.
* Review material in line with the Criminal Procedure Investigation Act (CPIA) to identify further lines of enquiry.
* View and copy CCTV and media footage, obtain evidence from mobile devices, and identify investigative opportunities.
* Attend court to give evidence when required, including evidence of exhibits and statements.
* Assist OICs and supervisors with partner and support agencies regarding victim updates, information sharing, risk assessments, and evidence collation.
Skills Required
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; willing to learn new systems and TVP systems.
* GCSEs (Grade 9-1/A-C) or equivalent in English.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to organise, plan, manage, and prioritise workloads effectively.
