Role Overview
As the Shipping Team Leader for Dover Precision Components, based at our main European facility in Polmadie, Glasgow, you will oversee the shipping and logistics operations. Our company designs and manufactures high-value bearings and mechanical seals for industrial applications, mainly in power generation, oil, gas, and renewable energy markets.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate daily activities of the shipping/logistics team to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient delivery of items.
* Collaborate with sales, supply chain, and operations teams to manage inbound inventory and outbound dispatches across international destinations.
* Provide proactive customer service, acting as the main contact point and resolving issues promptly.
Qualifications and Skills
* Several years of experience in a shipping coordination role, preferably in manufacturing.
* Advanced knowledge of incoterms, commodity codes, and tariff codes.
* Experience with logistics compliance procedures.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
* Leadership experience is preferred but not essential.
Additional Duties
* Manage transport logistics via air, road, or sea freight, using nominated logistics providers.
* Handle import/export documentation, customs procedures, and compliance using Pacejet system.
* Ensure process compliance throughout the logistics timeline.
* Communicate effectively with customers and third parties to meet targets and compliance standards.
* Oversee packaging, labeling, and stock level monitoring.
* Participate in audits and support team development, including goal setting, performance reviews, and skills enhancement.
