The role:
We're hiring for an Accounts Payable Manager in our dynamic and growing Finance function
We are looking for an ambitious and data-driven Accounts Payable Manager to take ownership of all transactional finance within the business.
This role will report into the Transactional Finance Manager and will be responsible for ensuring accuracy, efficiency and control across accounts payable and the wider transactional processes.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to step into their first Accounts Payable Manager role, aspiring to become a Transactions Manager or Head of Transactions in the future in a business set to expand globally into Europe and the US, bringing with a growing complexity which is fuelling the need to bring this role in.
You will not only manage day-to-day transactional finance but also identify risks and opportunities within processes, analyse data trends and drive improvements across the business. Please note, this role does not require the management of direct reports.
Location:
Hyde, parking on site minutes train journey from Manchester City Centre, with flexibility to work some days in our city centre office
Hours:
The role is a full-time position, 39 hours per week, 5 days a week, between Monday and Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
* Full ownership of all accounts payable processes
* Managing high-volume transactional finance activity
* Overseeing invoice processing and supplier payments
* Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
* Supplier statement reconciliations
* Ensuring strong financial controls across AP
* Investigating transactional discrepancies and resolving issues
* Reviewing and improving transactional workflows and controls
* Analysing transactional data to identify inefficiencies or risks
* Supporting system improvements and potential system transformation project
* Working cross-functionally with operations and commercial teams to improve processes
* Ensuring accuracy of data within Xero
* Supporting month-end close in relation to transactional reporting
* Verifying supplier details and invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies
* Managing weekly and ad-hoc payment runs
* Supporting staff expenses by processing expense reports, running credit card statements
About you:
We are looking for someone highly analytical, proactive and detail-oriented who enjoys improving systems and processes.
You must be comfortable working with large volumes of data and confident identifying trends, anomalies and opportunities for improvement.
You will have:
* Strong experience in Accounts Payable
* Ideally AAT Level 5 qualified, but not essential
* Experience using Xero
or
involvement in system implementation / transformation
* A strong data background with excellent Excel skills
* Experience managing reconciliations at scale
* Exceptional attention to detail
* Ability to identify process weaknesses and implement improvements
* Logical and methodical thinking
* Ability to work independently and take ownership
* Strong communication skills across departments
* Confidence in challenging existing processes constructively
