Howdens Joinery are looking for a junior / mid level Front End / Email Developer to join our UX team in Raunds, Northamptonshire. Based onsite with some home working. You will focus on creating and maintaining engaging, responsive, and accessible HTML emails and reusable templates. Working closely with the E-commerce, CRM and design teams, and under the guidance of the Senior Frontend Developer, your efforts will directly support key marketing campaigns and brand consistency across all email communications What will I be doing? Build and maintain HTML email templates from scratch using best practice techniques for responsiveness and accessibility Develop emails optimised for mobile and dark mode environments across major platforms and clients Execute campaign rollouts and perform testing across devices and clients using platforms such as Litmus Implement dynamic email content and logic using ESP-specific languages with support Collaborate with Design, E-commerce, and CRM teams to translate briefs and mock-ups’ into production-ready emails Maintain and enhance a reusable email component toolkit under guidance Prepare digital assets from design files with high precision and attention to detail Stay informed on trends in email design, rendering behaviour, and testing methodologies Support A/B testing, personalisation strategies, and continuous optimisation efforts Deliver projects efficiently while meeting tight deadlines Ensure brand consistency and adherence to visual standards across all emails Follow best practices for email deliverability and ensure compliance with regulations (e.g., GDPR, CAN-SPAM) What we need from you 1–2 years of experience in email or frontend development with an emphasis on email execution Strong working knowledge of HTML and CSS for email development Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for preparing design assets Familiarity with email testing platforms (e.g., Litmus, Email on Acid) Basic JavaScript knowledge for enhancing interactivity in emails Demonstrated ability to follow brand guidelines and produce visually consistent work Ability to interpret campaign performance metrics and apply insights for optimisation Detail-oriented with excellent organisational and communication skills Self-motivated and collaborative, with openness to mentorship and feedback Candidate with experience using CRM systems and ESPs such as Rant & Rave and Twilio is beneficial as is: Proficiency with design collaboration tools such as Sketch and Zeplin Exposure to Agile or Scrum development environments Experience with version control tools like Git and Azure DevOps for task and code management What we can offer you: Competitive salary and annual company bonus Excellent pension scheme (company contribution of up to 12%) 25 days holiday bank holidays with the option to buy additional days Staff Discount Employee Assistance Programme Exceptional Reward and Recognition events About Howdens: Howdens Joinery is the UK’s number one trade kitchen supplier providing thousands of products across kitchens, joinery, and hardware.
