Main duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the Cutting Team Leader the responsibilities of a Ground Based Operative are as follows:
• Maintaining a safe and clean working site for the remainder of the cutting team.
• Operating a self propelled chipper.
• Use of other powered equipment such as chainsaws & leafblowers.
• Undertaking basic service and maintenance tasks on all equipment.
• Ensuring the team has all of the necessary equipment for the working day.
• Work as key member of the cutting team to ensure a timely task completion.
• Ensuring the teams vehicle is serviceable.
• Assisting the team leader in overall site safety and security.
• Transporting logs and other debris to designated areas for correct disposal.
Experience and qualifications
Essential –
• Driving License
• Experience in working in all weathers
• Experience in working in a physically demanding environment
• Proven experience of operating in a small team environment
• Experience or working in a role where health and safety has been paramount
• Able to remain professional at all times
Desirable –
• Experience of working in a similar role
• Experience of operating equipment such as chainsaws and chippers
• Experience of undertaking basic equipment maintenance tasks
• Hold a First Aid At Work certificate
