Job Description

ALTEN is expanding its UK engineering capability, and we're looking for a Manufacturing Supply Chain Engineer to join us as a consultant. You’ll support a cutting-edge industrial electrification programme developing next-generation manufacturing technologies. This role places you at the centre of supplier interaction, part flow, and build support — helping ensure complex assemblies arrive on time and to the right quality. You’ll gain exposure to modern manufacturing processes, new product introduction, and engineering documentation while working alongside design, quality, and production teams. If you’re looking to build a strong foundation in supply chain and manufacturing engineering, this is an excellent step.

Job Responsibilities

* Check in with suppliers regarding part availability, delivery schedules, and required updates.
* Flag late deliveries, missing components, or quality concerns to senior engineers.
* Collect basic supplier inputs — such as drawings, specifications, or BOM details — to support manufacturing.
* Maintain Excel/Sheets trackers to monitor part status, delivery progress, and shortages.
* Support manufacturing by locating incoming parts, confirming deliveries, and identifying issues during builds.
* Assist with drawing updates, BOM changes, and passing engineering revisions to suppliers.
* Organise and maintain documents, part lists, and engineering files for smooth build progression.
* Collaborate daily with design, quality, procurement, and manufacturing teams to keep workflows moving.

Qualifications

Required Skills

* Experience working with suppliers, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
* Understanding of NPI (New Product Introduction) processes.
* Exposure to manufacturing methods or shop-floor processes.
* Knowledge of non-conformance handling and basic quality processes.
* Familiarity with APQP or structured supplier development methods.
* Comfortable using Excel, Google Sheets, or similar tracking tools.

Required Qualifications

* A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or similar.
* OR
* A relevant technical background gained through hands-on experience in manufacturing or supply support roles.
* Must be eligible to work in the UK.

Desirable Skills

* Prior experience with APQP in a production or supplier environment.
* Understanding of manufacturing documentation, such as drawings or BOMs.
* Knowledge of procurement workflows or supplier performance tracking.
