Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Orthoptist based at University Hospital Ayr.

What you will do:

You will possess highly developed specialised knowledge of orthoptic clinical practice, including advanced skills to lead the Orthoptic Stroke Service across NHS Ayrshire & Arran. You will also serve as the Practice Education lead for Orthoptics in NHS Ayrshire & Arran. Your responsibilities include autonomous assessment of complex adult and paediatric orthoptic cases in hospital and community settings, participation in shared care refraction clinics, and triaging paediatric referrals. The department is dedicated to audit, research, and professional development. You should be proficient with Microsoft Office applications. As a recognized Practice education site, you will be involved in undergraduate orthoptic education and other disciplines.

Knowledge, training, and experience required:

A BSc Hons degree in Orthoptics, evidence of working at Masters level, completion of a recognised postgraduate course, HCPC registration, and a current UK driving licence are essential. The successful candidate must join the PVG Scheme before appointment. The candidate must work collaboratively in a safe, caring, and respectful manner.

Hours:

29.6 hours per week

A UK car licence and ownership are essential.
