Purpose of the Role
As a Control Room Operator in Rail Services, you will work within a medium‑sized team to support the 24/7 real‑time operation of our on‑track plant fleet, gaining experience in technical and commercial activities that underpin our operations.
Person Specification
* Experience and confidence in using computer systems to conduct processes, record and manage safety‑critical data.
* Dynamic, driven, and professional, capable of performing duties safely on their own and following procedures without direct supervision.
* Inquisitive with the ability to interpret a range of operational data and determine the appropriate actions in a safety‑critical environment.
* Positive attitude and ability to thrive in a busy, pressurised environment.
* Confident communicator, both verbal and written, with excellent spelling and grammar.
* Understanding of UK rail infrastructure and geographical knowledge.
* Previous experience working in a control environment or emergency control centre (desirable).
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor and control the safe, efficient and reliable operation of our on‑track plant fleet 24/7.
* Report, record and escale real‑time incidents, accidents and environmental occurrences professionally and within appropriate timescales, following company procedures.
* Coordinate with on‑site colleagues, on‑call managers and the maintenance department to resolve issues affecting operational shift performance.
* Ensure all activity complies with policies, procedures and safety rules.
* Work closely with customers, stakeholders and service providers that support our activities.
* Produce and distribute concise operational updates and handovers.
* Attend required and ongoing training for the role.
* Adapt to organisational changes and meet evolving operational requirements.
* Perform any other reasonable duties as required.
