Overview

After Sales Manager, Earthmoving – Biggleswade. This role leads the after‑sales operations team within the Biggleswade depot, driving profitability through labour efficiency, parts turnover, and high‑quality technical support. The manager ensures seamless service delivery, safety compliance, and achievement of commercial targets across the Business Performance, Customer Focus, People and Teamwork, and Leadership areas.


Responsibilities

* Lead daily operations of the Biggleswade depot, ensuring strict adherence to Health & Safety regulations and efficient resource allocation.
* Monitor utilisation and Work in Progress targets, liaising with the administration team and After Sales Supervisor to move jobs through the pipeline for invoicing within 30 days.
* Provide technical guidance as a subject‑matter expert, assisting field service engineers and customers.
* Administer aftersales processes, including warranty claims and parts returns, accurately and promptly.
* Drive revenue growth by meeting annual targets for parts sales, servicing, and repair contracts.
* Review Profit and Loss statements to identify areas for improvement and manage departmental costs and income.
* Collaborate with Service Controllers to ensure service‑related repairs are accurately estimated and turned into commercial opportunities.
* Lead performance management, including appraisals, return‑to‑work interviews, and regular reviews.
* Facilitate monthly toolbox talks and ensure engineers receive necessary technical training.
* Conduct weekly or fortnightly team meetings to track progress, resolve issues, and foster collaboration.
* Build long‑term customer relationships through proactive communication and promotional activities.
* Serve as escalation point for customer disputes, resolving invoice queries or service issues swiftly.
* Maintain customer‑focused product support to uphold brand reputation.
* Perform other duties as required by management.


Qualifications

* Plant Engineering NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant industry.
* Competent plant engineering background.
* Demonstrated effective leadership skills with a team of similar size in a comparable environment.
* Highly developed customer service skills applied in a complex working environment.
* Strong communicator at all levels.
* Flexible approach to work.
* Excellent initiative and ability to work effectively under pressure.
