We are excited to offer a 12-month FTC opportunity for an experienced, HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist in Molecular Dagnostics. If you have at least 3 years of experience, this could be the fresh start you're looking for as we head into 2026!

Training & Mentorship: You will be responsible for training and mentoring junior staff, BMS trainees, and apprentices, helping to develop the team and enhance service delivery.

Main duties and responsibilities:

* Booking in clinical samples

* Running clinical laboratory procedures to assist the Clinical Team with improved efficiency

* Referring clinical samples to external laboratories where relevant

* Routine laboratory housekeeping duties

* Monthly stock checks

* Routine maintenance of instruments and systems

* Maintain up to date knowledge in the relevant areas of clinical biology and recent diagnostic developments

* Authorising clinical reports for dispatch to customers.

* Contributing to the QMS in the form of updating and reviewing controlled documents, reporting on performance of the services, attending and providing training.

* Other duties as reasonably requested with regards to the functioning of the clinical laboratory.




Qualifications

* BSc in Biomedical science or equivalent

* HCPC Registered

* Molecular diagnostics skills including PCR, nucleic acid extraction and RNA handling

* Experience of clinical diagnostics, human genetics, biochemistry and/or clinical microbiology

* Previous experience of working within an accredited clinical laboratory and familiarity with quality and regulatory standards

* Computer literate

* Self-motivated, good communication skills and a team player



Additional Information


Working Days: This is a 12-month fixed term contract, 37.5 hours over 5 days between Monday and Saturday



Salary: Up to £32,000 depending on experience
