Offer description

Do you have the ability to influence others and guide your team in a shared strategy?

Do you want to apply your communication and problem-solving skills in a role that provides variety and flexibility?

If so, we would love to hear from you

APHA is a brilliant place to work where our people feel valued, have a voice and can be their authentic selves. We value difference and diversity, because it helps us be more innovative and make better decisions.

We are dedicated to being an inclusive employer, offering equitable opportunities for all individuals. Our goal is to build a diverse workforce, and we hope to attract applications from all backgrounds and underrepresented groups.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Resilience Manager to join the Outbreak Preparedness and Assurance Team of the Contingency Planning Division in APHA.

The Contingency Planning Division is responsible for developing our Agency's capability and readiness to manage and respond to:

* Outbreaks of exotic disease in animals and pests or disease affecting plants, vegetables, trees, or bees.
* Disruptive events, emergencies, and other incidents which impact on the business or its stakeholders.

The Outbreak Preparedness and Assurance Team is responsible for areas such as contingency/continuity planning, training, development of instructions, maintaining and reporting against assurance schemes, providing strategic support to all areas of the APHA and enabling response to the various incidents that impact the business or during commission of day-to-day APHA activities. We also provide strategic oversight for any teams in Outbreak Preparedness.

The Resilience Manager's primary function is to support APHA business units in their development of plans, processes, and capabilities to ensure their readiness to respond to emergency situations.

The role involves a wide range of work including, but not limited to, the following:

* Lead on coordinating and maintaining assurance dashboard called the preparedness indices which outlines the government level of readiness for an outbreak of exotic animal or plant diseases.
* Lead on maintaining and coordinating assurance audits on outbreak preparedness indices, which outlines the government state of preparedness on animal or/and plant disease outbreaks.
* Act as a secretariate to the strategic level Outbreak Readiness Board, coordinating outputs across APHA and policy teams.

Please note:
You are expected to be part of an out of hour's on-call rota. On some occasions, this may also require working unsocial hours (utilising overtime provisions).

Travel may be required to attend training courses, meetings and to support outbreak response at other locations.

The role may require travel to work out of Defra's main office in 2 Marsham Street during a disease outbreak or emergencies. Therefore, the post holder will be required to obtain a Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance or above because of the security requirements for that location. This must be done within 6 months of starting the role.
