Are you a seasoned Civil Engineering professional with extensive experience in rail construction? We are seeking a dedicated Construction CRE to join our growing AmcoGiffen rail team in Wales, focusing on projects within the CP7 Civils & Structures Framework.

AmcoGiffen has secured numerous projects and long-term frameworks with key clients, expanding our civil engineering capabilities across Wales. Our projects include rail infrastructure upgrades such as bridges, embankments, stations, tunnels, and flood defences. We operate in a fast-paced environment, managing multidisciplinary civil projects across the region, including both tendered and framework-based work.
Current Projects & Contracts
* CP7 infrastructure works, asset management/maintenance projects
* Typical works: bridge replacements and refurbishments, station upgrades, tunnel refurbishments, flood alleviation, scour prevention, and retaining walls.
Role Overview
As a Construction CRE, you will be integral to the delivery of the CP7 Wales Civils Framework, a design & construct contract involving the renewal and refurbishment of civil assets such as underbridges, overbridges, tunnels, and scour defences across the Wales & Borders Route. Your key responsibilities will include managing construction on site, overseeing design and survey coordination, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to the specified quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform Contractors Responsible Engineer duties, ensuring compliance with assurance processes.
* Oversee and monitor progress of design, construction, and survey works, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.
* Manage design change requests, change orders, and coordinate design submittals for approval.
* Facilitate resolution of design issues with the client and design teams.
* Identify and manage risks and opportunities in the design and construction interface.
* Conduct inspections, assess construction methods, and review temporary works requirements.
* Promote best practices, continuous improvement, and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
* Support project handback processes and ensure comprehensive H&S documentation is completed.
* Collaborate with design and commercial teams to negotiate revisions and contractual changes.
* Provide regular reports to the Contractors Engineering Manager.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Extensive experience as a Construction CRE / Contractors Responsible Engineer within the rail sector.
* Strong understanding of civil and rail engineering principles and construction methods.
* Knowledge of Network Rail’s GRIP process and rail asset renewal projects.
* Proven ability to manage design coordination, temporary works, and construction methodologies.
* Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement with landowners, authorities, and regulatory bodies.
Academic & Professional Qualifications
* Minimum BEng Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
* Chartered Member of a recognised professional body (e.g., ICE) is desirable.
* CSCS Professionally Qualified Person or similar accreditation.
