Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to become part of our Children's Community Nursing Team. As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality respite care to children with complex needs within their homes. You'll be providing both day and night shift care, ensuring our services are available around the clock.
Key duties:
* Provide high-quality respite care to children with complex or long-term health needs.
* Deliver care in a variety of settings, including childrens homes and schools.
* Work flexible hours, including day and night shifts, to ensure a 24-hour care service.
Requirements:
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant field (or willingness to work towards this).
* Previous experience in a care setting is desirable, but full training will be provided during induction.

Main duties of the job
* Provide personal and clinical care to children and young people in accordance with individual care plans, responding promptly and effectively to urgent or unpredictable care needs.
* Safely use moving and handling aids tailored to the individual needs of each child or young person, ensuring skin integrity, comfort, and safety.
* Administer prescribed medications, including rectal medication, in line with Trust policies.
* Deliver high-quality care that upholds the privacy, dignity, and infection prevention and control standards at all times.
* Meet the nutritional requirements of children and young people, utilising the necessary equipment in line with their individual needs.
* Continuously assess the health and well-being of each child or young person, initiating appropriate interventions, and following emergency procedures as outlined in their care plan.
* Maintain professional and effective communication with children, young people, and their families to support care delivery.
* Demonstrate the ability to concentrate at a high level for extended periods, particularly during unsocial hours or in demanding situations.
* Obtain specimens or samples, following appropriate training and protocols.
* Recognise personal and professional limitations and effectively collaborate with Community Childrens Nurses, Team Leaders, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
