Job Title: Principal Safety & Environmental Engineer
Locations: Barrow-In-Furness, Portsmouth, BroadOak, Frimley, Weymouth, Plymouth, or Bristol
Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
* Support the derivation and management of Product Safety requirements based on hazard and risk identification
* Work according to Project Safety Management Plans
* Influence the development of safe designs and the Project Safety Case, including safety arguments and justification reports
* Support hazard identification meetings and maintain the project hazard log
* Conduct peer reviews, checks, verification, and assurance tasks to ensure Safety Case robustness
Your skills and experiences:
* Understanding of engineering safety management processes, hazard analysis, safety arguments, and safety case reports
* Knowledge of safety within systems engineering, including engineering requirements and delivery processes
* Understanding of ALARP principles and their application
* Experience with systems engineering tools (e.g., DOORS, Enterprise Architect)
* Experience working in defence or complex systems involving software products

The SSNA Combat System Team:
As a Principal Engineer, you will support the Engineering Delivery Manager in developing and maintaining the Project Product Safety Management System and Safety Case, ensuring product safety and legal compliance. You will join a team of about 50 engineers, collaborating from early project stages, influencing project progress, and advancing your career within BAE Systems.
