Job Overview
NHSGGC invites applications for a Band 6 rotational pharmacist within the North Service, providing patient‑focused clinical pharmacy services across medical specialties, surgery, care of older people, oncology and aseptic/dispensary services. The role is based primarily at Glasgow Royal Infirmary with additional postings at Gartnavel General Hospital and Vale of Leven Hospital.
Duration, Location and Working Pattern
* Location: Glasgow Royal Infirmary
* Contract: Permanent, full‑time (36 hours per week)
* Shift pattern: 5 days on, 2 days off per week; includes weekend, 6 pm late, public holiday and out‑of‑hours on‑call service
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver pharmaceutical care to in‑patients, supporting safe and cost‑effective prescribing and administration of medicines.
* Document and act on pharmaceutical care issues: drug history taking, care planning, and ongoing monitoring.
* Ensure accurate transcription of discharge prescriptions.
* Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.
* Provide medicines information and advice, using evidence‑based search strategies.
* Undertake and record post‑registration foundation training.
* Engage in educational programmes, peer review, and other CPD activities.
* Supervise and train pharmacy undergraduates, pre‑registration graduates, technicians and other staff as required.
Qualifications, Training and Experience
* Master’s Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent (essential).
* Foundation training year completed and examination passed; willingness to undertake post‑registration foundation training.
* Knowledge of Medicines Act 1968, Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, Poisons Act 1972, COSHH, HASAWA (1974) and relevant standard operating procedures.
* Strong communication, organisational, numeracy and computer literacy skills.
* Commitment to continuing professional development and familiarity with health and safety protocols.
