Accounting Practice Manager
Salary: £50,000–£60,000 per year
Location: Reading (1 day per week WFH after probation)

As we enter our next phase of expansion, we are looking for a fully qualified, highly experienced Accounting Practice Manager to lead our team, raise standards and help shape the future of the firm.
The Role
This is a senior, client‑facing leadership role. You’ll oversee the day‑to‑day running of the practice, manage and develop the team, ensure technical quality across all workstreams and support clients with complex accounting and tax matters. You will play a pivotal role in how the firm grows, operates and performs.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, manage and mentor a multi‑disciplinary accounting team.
* Review and sign off accounts, corporation tax returns, VAT returns, self‑assessment returns and bookkeeping work.
* Ensure consistent technical accuracy and adherence to best practice and regulatory standards.
* Allocate resources and workflow, ensuring deadlines are met and quality is maintained.
* Provide expert support to clients, including advisory meetings, resolving technical queries and explaining financial performance.
* Drive quality improvements and process enhancements across the practice.
* Oversee cashflow forecasting, budgets and financial modelling where required.
* Support onboarding of new clients, ensuring tidy handovers and smooth transitions.
* Contribute to strategic planning and help steer the firm through its next growth phase.
Required Skills & Experience
* Fully qualified ACA/ACCA (mandatory).
* Significant experience working in an accountancy practice.
* Strong technical competence in accounts preparation, corporation tax, VAT, bookkeeping, self‑assessment, cashflow forecasting, budgeting and financial modelling.
* Proven team management and leadership experience.
* Confident communicator capable of leading client meetings.
* Strong organisational skills with a proactive, improvement‑focused mindset.
