Job Description
3. Manage day‑to‑day purchasing for stocked items and customer‑specific orders.
4. Maintain accurate MRP data, update demand information, and release purchase orders in line with stock requirements.
5. Chase and expedite suppliers to ensure timely delivery, resolving any delays, shortages, or quality issues.
6. Monitor stock levels, shortages, overstocks, and replenishment triggers, taking proactive action to maintain product availability.
7. Work closely with Sales, Warehouse, and Goods‑In teams to support daily operational needs and improve inbound material flow.
8. Maintain high levels of data accuracy within the ERP/MRP system and produce simple purchasing or KPI updates as required.
9. Support continuous improvement of purchasing and inbound processes within a fast‑paced distribution environment.
10. Monitor supplier performance from an operational perspective and escalate recurring issues when necessary.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Interim Senior Buyer / Lead Buyer should have:
11. Proven experience in hands‑on purchasing within a distribution, manufacturing, engineering, or similar environment.
12. Confident managing day‑to‑day buying tasks including raising POs, expediting suppliers, and resolving delivery issues quickly.
13. Strong understanding of operational stock control and working with MRP/ERP systems.
14. Good Excel skills and the ability to maintain accurate purchasing and stock data.
15. Able to work calmly and accurately in a fast‑paced, changing operational environment.
16. Clear communicator who can work closely with Sales, Warehouse, and Goods‑In teams.
17. Practical, organised, and proactive in maintaining strong stock availability.
