The Asset Manager at GB Railfreight is responsible for managing GBRF’s physical and financial assets, including Locomotives and Rolling stock, ensuring they are utilized efficiently, maintained in optimal condition, and comply with all standards and regulations. You will develop and implement asset management strategies to maximize the value and efficiency of assets, plan for asset acquisition, maintenance, and disposal in alignment with business objectives, and ensure optimal performance throughout the asset lifecycle.

Responsibilities
1. Manage GBRf and contractor maintenance locations, ensuring GBRf’s interests are prioritized.
2. Maintain safety, quality, and production standards to ensure reliability and availability of rolling stock.
3. Arrange and attend site meetings with stakeholders such as the Regional Operations Manager, Safety Department, and Facilities Manager.
4. Ensure maintenance sites operate safely and efficiently, coordinating vehicle movements around maintenance locations.
5. Support GBRf Operations, Production, and Commercial Teams.
6. Foster relationships with GBRf Train Crew, Planning, and Operations/Production Management for effective communication.
7. Organize meetings with maintenance contractors and GBRf Operations Teams to support operations.
8. Evaluate and suggest modifications to maintenance schedules to enhance reliability and reduce costs.
9. Oversee implementation of changes to improve safety, performance, and operations.
10. Ensure maintenance plans for all rolling stock and locomotives are certified and followed.
11. Supervise contractor activities maintaining GBRf's rolling stock and locomotives.
12. Coordinate with the Fleet Planning Team for asset removal, replacement, and repair plans.
13. Chair regular Contract and Technical Review meetings to monitor supplier performance and improvements.
14. Hold daily conference calls to prioritize work and drive availability reports.
15. Expedite repairs by addressing resource or manpower shortfalls.
16. Assist in preparing and managing the annual budget.
17. Provide 2nd line on-call engineering support to GBRf.
Supplier Management
1. Ensure effective communication and collaboration with internal teams and suppliers.
2. Maintain strong relationships and secure advantageous contracts.
3. Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues promptly.
4. Act as the main contact point for suppliers and report performance to senior management.
Compliance & Standards
1. Ensure all rolling stock complies with Railway and Industry Standards.
2. Conduct audits and address non-compliance issues.
Maintenance Oversight
1. Supervise maintenance activities to keep assets in optimal condition.
2. Schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks.
Operational Efficiency
1. Develop strategies to improve operational efficiency.
2. Monitor KPIs and report on performance.
3. Implement process improvements.
Risk Management
1. Identify and mitigate risks related to supplier management and maintenance activities.
Documentation & Reporting
1. Maintain accurate records of contracts and performance.
2. Prepare reports on performance and compliance.
Essential Qualifications
* Technical knowledge in traction and rolling stock engineering.
* Experience in the Railway industry.
* Clean UK Driving license.
* Willingness to travel, including overnight stays.
* Strong interpersonal, presentation, and analytical skills.
* Commercial awareness and understanding of customer needs.
Desirable Qualifications
* Knowledge of TOPS, 6Clicks, and Business Central.
* Engineering degree or equivalent.
