We are currently partnering with a Local Authority, who are recruiting for an Education Lawyer on a rolling 3-mionth locum basis.
They are happy to negotiate rates with interested candidates based on their experience but are looking to pay c. £50.00 to £55.00 via an umbrella company.
You must be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister, with previous advocacy experience to apply for this role.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
1. Providing expert legal advice, representation, and case management on matters relating to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
2. Providing advocacy in Courts, Tribunals, Public Inquiries, and other venues as require, as well as helping clients to select a barrister and instructing where necessary
3. Taking the clients’ instructions and advising clients on the advantages or disadvantages of courses of action with a full understanding of the legal consequences
4. Conducting research and analysing information such as legal precedents
5. Maintaining correspondence with clients and solicitors representing other parties
6. Preparing statements, reports, contracts and other legal documents
7. Preparing and checking papers for cases (e.g. for courts)
8. Negotiating with clients and other professionals to secure agreed objectives
9. Delegating work to Trainees, Legal Officers or administrative staff as appropriate
10. Ensuring necessary administration, including billing, is completed
Working hours:
11. 37 hours per week
12. Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
