University of Southampton, School of Geography & Environmental Science (SoGES)
The School of Geography and Environmental Science is seeking to appoint a Senior Project Administrator. This position will support the UKRI-funded project ‘Food Aid Inequality Rectified (FAIR-food)’ led by Prof. Dianna Smith and colleagues. FAIR-food aims to support change in the food aid system, particularly food pantries in Southampton, the New Forest, and the Isle of Wight. The project involves collaboration with local government, third sector partners, and communities to implement positive adaptations that can be applied elsewhere. A key goal is developing an online platform to enhance collaboration among food supplies and aid providers, prioritizing healthier food in pantries. The project also seeks community input on desired changes and the development of small, deployable interventions.
The Senior Project Administrator will provide comprehensive administrative support to the research project and its team, which includes members from the University of Southampton, University of Hertfordshire, local governments, and food aid organizations. The team also comprises three postdoctoral researchers supporting specific project areas. The role requires applying judgment and offering detailed, specialist advice and guidance as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Organize internal and external events, ensuring efficient operations by coordinating diaries, booking venues, and providing relevant information.
2. Support project communications both internally and externally.
3. Manage financial and research administration processes, including budget monitoring support.
4. Provide secretarial and P.A. services to the project lead, including diary management, meeting coordination, documentation, event organization, and attending meetings as appropriate.
The position is part-time at 0.4 FTE, starting from 1st June 2025, and is fixed-term for three years.
The School of Geography and Environmental Science is committed to fostering equality, diversity, and inclusion. We welcome applications from qualified candidates, especially those from underrepresented groups, including Black and minority ethnic individuals and disabled persons. We offer family-friendly policies, flexible working arrangements, and are a Disability Confident employer with a bronze Athena Swan award.
