Medical Secretary – Adult Community Learning Disability Service
We are looking for a self-motivated individual with strong administration experience and excellent organisational and communication skills. You will provide comprehensive secretarial service to the Consultant Psychiatrist, the Professional Lead /Manager, Team Leader and other members of the Learning Disability team in the West of Argyll.
Required responsibilities include:
* Manage appointments, telephones, email and the consulting diary.
* Prepare accurate and timely documentation and correspondence.
* Maintain patient records in Trak Care PMS, SciStore and other information systems.
* Act as a point of contact for patients, carers, GPs, social workers and other external agencies.
* Work effectively under pressure within the required hours.
Qualifications and skills:
* Significant secretarial experience with high level of office practice skills.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, e-mail and hospital intranet systems.
* Excellent problem‑solving, discretion and a sensitive approach to adults with a learning disability.
* Strong organisational, communication and self‑motivated working style.
Additional information for candidates:
* Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part‑time hours will be adjusted on a pro‑rata basis and there will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
