Principal Scientist, Cell Culture Patient Derived Organoids

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with experience in organoid culture and oncology cellular biology to join the Oncology Translational Research team within GSK Oncology Therapeutic Area (TA). The Oncology Translational Research team will partner with Oncology TA team members to increase clinical translatability and contribute to preclinical development programmes within GSK Oncology TA. The successful candidate will work as part of a team that, by exploiting patient-derived organoids, is developing and implementing cutting-edge cellular, genomic and molecular techniques with a multimodality analytic approach, plus machine learning models to improve cancer patient risk stratification as well as to predict future targeted and/or immuno-therapy susceptibilities.

In this role you will

* Be involved in the expansion and culture of patient-derived organoids independently or in co-culture with other cell types, such as immune cells or fibroblasts.

* Perform quality control procedures on patient-derived organoids, including evaluating cell density, proliferation rates, and cytotoxicity, as well as carrying out cell culture and expansion.

* Conduct flow cytometry analyses on organoids and other cell types.

* Collect and report experimental data to the laboratory head.

* Collaborate with scientists from King’s College London within the GSK–KCL Translational partnership.


Why you?

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

* PhD in Cell Biology/Oncology or related field, OR a Masters with equivalent experience, with a multidisciplinary mix of training in Oncology and Cancer cell biology.

* Significant experience in cell culture techniques (patient-derived organoids, immune cells, cancer associated fibroblasts), cytotoxicity analysis.

* Flow cytometry experience (multi-colour panel preparation, antibodies titration, cell staining, FlowJo analysis).

* Ability to deliver high quality, consistent results in a timely fashion with a positive, can-do and results-oriented attitude.


Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred; if you do not have them, please still apply:

* Background in immunology

* A track record of scientific publication

* Experience in collaboration with biopharma

* Experience in laboratory automation.
