An opportunity has arisen within a fast-moving Logistics Team for a Principal Shipping Officer to manage the shipping & UK despatch team. The role involves liaising closely with the export control team, local customs officers, and freight forwarders to effectively export products outside the UK.
Salary: Circa £48,000 depending on experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 4-5 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. Successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:
An exciting role within a dynamic Logistics Team for a Principal Shipping Officer. Responsibilities include managing the shipping & UK despatch team, ensuring timely delivery, managing export documentation, liaising with transport and freight companies, and ensuring compliance with legislation and internal processes.
* Manage the Shipping Team at Stevenage to deliver excellent export and shipping services
* Ensure timely product delivery aligned with project demands
* Handle export documentation including transport documents, hazardous goods notes, and customs formalities
* Maintain and update Export and Transport Registers
* Coordinate with UK and international freight forwarders to ensure compliance and efficiency
* Promote functional excellence and continuous improvement
* Assist Export Control in compliance with export licenses and DIT accreditation
* Stay updated with transport legislation, including prohibited weapons regulations
* Implement process improvements and KPIs
* Ensure staff training records are current
* Align processes with the team in Bolton and promote best practices
* Maintain health and safety standards, ensuring a safe working environment
* Maintain AAC Accreditation for MOD St
* Deliver key objectives and conduct annual performance reviews
