Job Description
1. Assist the Reception Manager with the night audit process
2. Conduct Night Auditor duties while on shift
3. Perform routine maintenance checks on the network and system audit controls
4. Ensure that staff on duty are well groomed and promote morale through encouragement of team work, and a positive attitude
5. Investigate security breaches, completing relevant forms and advising relevant authorities using the correct legal process
6. Handle disruptive guests and ensure their discreet removal from the property if needed
7. Responsible for all other departments in the absence of their respective managers for the duration of the night time operation
8. Enforce policies and procedures in order to achieve superior levels of service
9. Attend and conduct monthly operation meetings to review, monitor and upgrade the performance of the department through dissemination of information, explaining new directions, policies and procedures, standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and training initiatives
10. Ensure that all specified diaries and reports are maintained in an accurate and up to date manner
11. Handle all complaints promptly and efficiently, ensuring follow up to determine the source of the complaint and resolution of the problem
12. Be available at all times for guest queries
13. Ensure the hotel is operating efficiently and according to hotel policy
14. Ensure all staff are on duty and in proper uniform. Liaise with the department heads/supervisors for replacement of any absent staff
15. Ensure all public areas, outlets and the Front Office areas are clean at all times
16. Conduct performance appraisals on Night Audit staff
17. Monitor occupancy to obtain maximum yield
18. Maintain guest history and use for all bookings as appropriate.
19. Convey all complaints and apparent problems to the appropriate department head
20. Carry out a complete handover to the next shift
21. Issue floats and keys in accordance with SOP’s
22. Ensure all basic Liquor Licensing Laws are adhered to
23. Check all areas for general maintenance requirements
24. Apply full knowledge of fire procedures and take control in the case of fire
25. Attend and actively participate in all WH&S training required of you by the Hotel.
26. Report any health or safety hazards, incidents and injuries to your Manager/Supervisor or Manager on Duty as soon as possible. Hazards may include unsafe working conditions, equipment and machinery faults or damage, and other housekeeping or maintenance needs that may affect the safety or any person/s at the Hotel. Ensure that the appropriate documentation is completed correctly, such as the Injury / Incident Form.
27. Participate and contribute to the risk assessment process when requested by your Supervisor/Manager.
28. Work cohesively in conjunction with the hotel’s rehabilitation program, as required.
29. Maintain standards of hygiene for food handling and presentation as prescribed by council / legislative regulations.
30. Be fully conversant with departmental fire and evacuation procedures.
31. Is responsible for the security of people and property in the area under his/her remit.
32. Ensures the Night Security policy is implemented, that the property is secure and that the hotel walk happens consistently and any issues reported.
33. Check the security of the guests and their properties, makes regular security rounds of the hotel on floors, garage and technical areas.
