This role is based within a small family owned workshop, established for over 40 years. The role involves diagnosing and fixing electrical faults in cars, vans and other commercial vehicles. Some time will be based in the company's Falkirk based workshop as well as attending trade and public customers at their premises.\n\nWe pride ourselves in being able to find and fix faults that other organisations cannot due to our up to date diagnostic equipment as well as highly skilled problem solving methods to trace faults that technology cannot. This ranges from the basic electrical functions in automobiles to more complex faults in electric vehicles.\n\nThe working week is 08:30 to 17:00 (Monday to Friday), with 28 days holiday as well as national public holidays.\n\nTraining will take place at GTG in Edinburgh (Newbridge). This will be for one week at a time over a scheduled programme. The day to day tasks faced by an auto electrician are constantly changing, driven by the introduction of ever more complex technologies and diagnostic techniques.\n\nYou will learn how to diagnosis and trace faults as well as the skills required to rectify the issues for the customer.\n\nYou will develop your problem solving skills as well as your theoretical and practical aspects of automotive vehicle systems. Applicants must have a keen interest in working with motor vehicles, this is more important than qualifications. A reasonable level of Maths, English and Physics is preferable (at least to National 4). Prior experience/knowledge of working on motor vehicles however will be taken into account.\n\nYou must be able to work independently but also operate as an effective team member, understand how the workshop functions from a commercial point of view.\n\nMust be adaptable, flexible and enjoy the challenge of resolving new problems every day.\n\nMust be customer focused, have the ability to listen and learn from college lectures, colleagues and mentor to gain the skills required for the role.
