We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Ecologist to join an established, top AJ100 Consultancy in Wakefield.
About the job:
This growing consultancy has a strong reputation for deliverability and design, working on projects throughout the UK with a strong presence in the North. They boast a wide range of clients and projects across multiple sectors, and a range of sister companies to enable them to complete the majority of work on all projects.
As Senior or Principal Ecologist your role will include leading and managing:
* Extended phase 1 habitat/UK Habitat surveys
* Protected species surveys
* Mitigation proposals and habitat creation schemes
* Collaboration with the landscape team to support Biodiversity Net Gain
* Supervising projects under EPS licences for bats and great crested newts
* Technical reports for planning submission
* BREEAM Assessments,
* Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments
* Involvement with EIA
Salary & Benefits:
This salary offers a competitive salary circa £32,000 - £45,000 (experience dependent), plus:

About you:
To apply for this role you will need:
* A degree level qualification in a relevant field, with CIEEM membership
* Protected species licences (Ideally GCN and Level 2 Bat Licence, or Level 1 and working towards)
* Substantial habitat and protected species surveying knowledge/experience, with good knowledge of mitigation alongside previous submission of development licences
* Excellent knowledge of wildlife legislation and the planning process
* Strong understanding/experience of BNG assessments using Defra metric
* Experience preparing Ecological Impact Assessments and Ecology chapters used towards EIA (desirable)
* Competent computer skills including QGIS mapping and bat call analysis software
* Project Management and fee quoting experience, with strong report writing skills
* Self motivation, effective communication skills and an ability to manage and lead a team
