1:1 Teaching Assistant – Primary (Supporting a Child with ASC)
Full-time | Term-time only | Immediate and upcoming starts available
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a primary-aged pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in a warm and inclusive school environment. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference by helping one child feel understood, supported, and ready to thrive.
Working closely with the class teacher, you’ll provide tailored support to help the pupil access learning, manage routines, and develop social and communication skills. You’ll also play an important part in creating a calm, positive learning atmosphere where every child can feel valued and achieve their best.
This role would suit someone with a nurturing, flexible, and proactive approach — someone who finds joy in seeing small steps turn into big achievements.
What We’re Looking For
• Experience supporting children with ASD, additional needs, or 1:1 learning support
• A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach to classroom challenges
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers, parents, and other staff
• Confidence in using creative strategies to engage pupils and promote independence
• A genuine passion for inclusion and helping children overcome barriers to learning
Role Requirements
• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience)
• Basic qualifications in English and Maths (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent)
• Experience supporting children with special educational needs, ideally in a primary setting
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
• Availability during school hours, term-time only
