About the Role
Pick Everard, a multidisciplinary consultancy with a 160‑year heritage, is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our UK team. The ideal candidate will lead ecological fieldwork, data analysis, and reporting across projects, supporting design and development from proposal to delivery. Based in the Midlands is preferred, but we welcome applicants from any UK location who are willing to travel for site visits.
Responsibilities
* Lead and organise ecological field surveys and monitoring.
* Analyse ecological data, ensuring accuracy and quality.
* Produce ecological reports, including assessments and management plans.
* Support Ecological Clerk of Works duties.
* Develop strategies for ecological constraints and opportunities on projects.
* Prepare proposals and contribute to project bidding.
* Communicate with clients, contractors and stakeholders on technical strategy.
* Address health and safety concerns related to surveying and report hazards on site.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science or related field.
* Experience appraising projects for ecological constraints and opportunities.
* Experience surveying UK habitats – ideally FISC 4 botanical skills (or ability to achieve within 12 months).
* Survey design and mitigation for protected species, coordination of sub‑consultants.
* Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (or equivalent).
* Experience with the Statutory Biodiversity Metric and Biodiversity Net Gain.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, case law and planning policy for ecology.
* Proficiency in GIS software and MS Office.
* Valid driving licence.
* Willingness to work outdoors and during unsocial hours.
