We are seeking a patient, empathetic, and dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Leicester, starting as soon as possible. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional learning needs, providing tailored support to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The school has a strong inclusive ethos and works closely with families and colleagues to provide personalised learning experiences for pupils with SEND. Staff collaborate to create a structured, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment where every pupil feels valued, supported, and confident. Senior leadership is approachable and supportive, offering guidance, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to help staff succeed. As an SEN 1:1, you will work directly with an individual pupil, providing personalised support in line with their EHCP or learning plan. You will help the pupil access lessons, develop independence, and achieve their personal learning goals, while promoting confidence, positive behaviour, and social skills. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with SEND Assist in delivering personalised learning plans and EHCP targets Support the pupil academically, socially, and emotionally Promote independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours Help the pupil engage fully with classroom activities and lessons Observe, monitor, and record the pupil’s progress accurately Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, and support staff Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals as needed Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment Support the pupil during transitions, break times, and structured activities Attend staff meetings, training, and CPD sessions Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Have experience supporting pupils with SEND in a school setting Be patient, empathetic, and resilient Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills Be proactive, adaptable, and reliable Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing The school is located in Leicester, with excellent transport links and a supportive local community.
