The project: Our transportation team is growing in Bristol and we have an exciting opportunity for a Project Advisor/Cost Controller to join our Rail team on a full-time permanent contract. As Project Advisor you will represent Mace whilst interfacing with our key clients. You will ensure the successful delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives. responsible for overseeing and managing the budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting processes for specific projects within the organisation. This role involves analysing project financial data, preparing cost reports, and ensuring that the project's financial resources are used efficiently. Sound understanding of Network Rail procedures. Determining and arranges project management, technical services and external resources required for the project on an individual and team basis on behalf of client organisation. Collaborating with the team/s (client, design team and other consultants, and contractor) and all stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the project in line with all expectations communicating strategies to the team. Demonstrating Mace's value of safety first, exhibiting visible safety behaviours and using safety moments and Mace's HSW framework. Providing subject matter knowledge to support the team(s) from the broader Mace projects and business units to assist in ensuring the best project outcome. Delivering the project objectives in line with the project execution plan, direct and manages the project team/s and relevant stakeholders to achieve strategic project key performance indicators (KPIs). Preparing and modifying where necessary project plans and keeps them updated and relevant over the course of the project/s. Overseeing project timeframes and budgets, ensuring successful delivery of projects, highlighting any risks, challenges and mitigations Collaborating with relevant stakeholders and ensures robust quality systems are in place and suitably managed and monitored in line with service excellence. Directing and recording relevant meetings, providing relevant parties with contextual information and analysis. Partnering with relevant stakeholders and is actively involved in risk management and mitigation treatments. Effectively coordinates and communicates with all project stakeholders, ensuring completion of responsibilities/tasks and that appropriate standards and records are documented and maintained. Taking ownership of project changes, as and when necessary, tracking project changes and ensuring they are progressed and formalised within the agreed timeframes. Ensuring approved handover documentation is coordinated and provided prior to practical completion. Knowledge of CDM regulations. Developing and maintain project budgets and financial forecasts. Supporting Project Managers and department heads to gather budgetary information and ensure alignment with project goals. Monitoring project budget performance and provide regular updates to Project Manager to action. Analysing project financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for cost improvement. Preparing detailed project cost reports and support the Project Manager in presenting findings to senior management and project stakeholders. Ensuring accurate and timely reporting of project financial information Proven experience in cost control, project accounting, or financial management. Implementing and maintaining cost control procedures to ensure efficient use of project resources. Monitoring and reviewing project costs, ensuring they are within budget. Identifying and recommending cost-saving measures and process improvements specific to projects. You’ll need to have: Experience of the UK rail industry and its regulatory framework. Knowledge of Network Rails project governance. Accredited NEC4 Project Manager. Formal qualification in project management, finance or accounting.
