Overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to work in our team of Geomatics Analysts. You will be working as part of a small team processing survey data to support the delivery of our National Elevation Data Programmes, using specialist software and GIS to process and quality control data from our state-of-the-art Remote Sensing survey instrumentation including our Airborne LIDAR Terrain Mapper.
Responsibilities
* Process survey data as part of the Geomatics team to support National Elevation Data Programmes.
* Use ESRI GIS software to process and quality control data from Remote Sensing instruments, including Airborne LiDAR.
* Collaborate with National & Area teams to co-deliver all monitoring requirements of the Environment Agency and the wider environmental community.
Experience / Skills Required
* Relevant degree level qualification in Geography, GIS, Environment or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience with understanding of operational applications.
* Practical experience and broad GIS skills using ESRI products such as ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap; able to demonstrate experience of working with large and complex mapping datasets, preferably Airborne LiDAR.
* Experience processing and carrying out quality control procedures on LIDAR datasets and LIDAR-derived Digital Elevation Models would be advantageous.
* Experience in Remote Sensing techniques, analytical and problem-solving skills and good attention to detail; able to communicate effectively and to work unsupervised at times to meet challenging deadlines.
* Good organisational skills and be highly motivated with a professional attitude; ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
Contact and Additional Information
The National Monitoring Survey team is a national team, located at various sites around the country and you can be based anywhere within working proximity to an EA office. You will be expected to travel to the Geomatics team hub base in Bath when required and may be required to come into an EA office to meet team needs. The post is full-time; requests for other working patterns will be considered. Interviews will be in-person at our Bath office and will include a technical GIS assessment and capability questions.
