Here at Plas y Brenin, we’re looking for a motivated and skilled Fundraising Executive to help grow our income and expand our charitable impact. You’ll bring proven experience in securing grants, building donor relationships, and delivering successful fundraising campaigns, supporting our mission to provide exceptional outdoor learning and adventure in the heart of Snowdonia.

Key Purpose
To support and deliver Plas y Brenin’s fundraising activity, with a particular focus on developing funding relationships and increasing grant income. You will be passionate about creating compelling funding bids that help sustain and expand our charitable programmes. This role is responsible for identifying grant opportunities, coordinating applications, and contributing to funder reporting. Alongside this, the Fundraising Executive will support community fundraising, events, and donor engagement, including individual giving and partnership development. You’ll work closely with the Marketing team and wider colleagues to ensure our fundraising approach is mission-aligned, supporter-focused, and impactful.
Key Responsibilities
* Research and identify relevant grant and trust funding opportunities aligned with our charitable aims
* Prepare and coordinate high-quality funding applications, working to deadlines and funder specifications
* Gather evidence, data, and case studies to strengthen applications and impact reporting
* Maintain a calendar of application deadlines and reporting obligations
* Develop and nurture relationships with grant funders and trusts where appropriate
* Deliver community and event fundraising activity in line with our income generation strategy
* Coordinate challenge events, donor campaigns, and supporter communications
* Maintain and update our supporter database, ensuring accurate records and GDPR compliance
* Provide exceptional supporter care across all channels—email, post, phone, and in-person
* Develop content for fundraising materials, newsletters, appeals, and digital campaigns
* Liaise with internal teams and external partners to create and promote fundraising initiatives
* Process donations, track income, and support reporting for key funders and partners
* Monitor fundraising performance using analytics tools and recommend improvements
* Keep up to date with trends in community fundraising, outdoor events, and the charity sector
Person Specification
Essential:
* Previous experience in a fundraising role (voluntary or paid)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
* Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
* Strong writing skills with experience producing persuasive funding proposals or reports
* Demonstrable understanding of the grant fundraising process, from prospecting to reporting
* A warm and professional approach to supporter and stakeholder engagement
* Commitment to Plas y Brenin’s mission and values
Desirable:
* Experience planning or supporting outdoor fundraising events or sporting challenges
* Understanding of donor stewardship and community engagement best practice
* Familiarity with fundraising regulations and Gift Aid processes
* Confident using CRM systems and Microsoft Office
* Creative skills for content creation (e.g. Canva, photography, copywriting)
* Interest in the outdoors, sport, or charitable organisations
* Welsh language skills
* Experience using funding databases or research tools
* Knowledge of the UK trust and foundation landscape relevant to youth, education, sport, or the environment
