Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Denton, North Manchester
About the Role
Wienerberger is a leading international provider of building materials and infrastructure solutions.
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (internally known as a Maintenance Fitter) at our Denton site, you will be part of a hands‑on in‑house team that keeps the plant running by ensuring equipment operates smoothly. From troubleshooting to planned preventive maintenance (PPM), you will work with specialist machinery, ensuring everything runs like clockwork. This dynamic role requires problem‑solving skills and technical expertise used daily, and you will be a key player contributing to the efficiency and reliability of our production processes.
Your role will encompass a variety of maintenance skills, allowing you to work as a fitter, fabricator, welder, and service engineer.
About You
Hours of Work: Mechanically biased engineer with experience in manufacturing/factory environments, holding a minimum Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline.
Safety is our biggest priority, so you must be committed to safe working and have strong experience of health and safety best practice.
You should enjoy a busy environment, roll up your sleeves, be flexible and adapt to different daily priorities, and be physically fit to perform various duties.
Key Qualifications
* Team player who builds good relationships with colleagues
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Good working knowledge of environment, health and safety (EHS) processes
* Analytical and problem‑solving skills
* Diagnostics experience of hydraulics, pneumatic, and drive‑chain fault finding
* Bearing fitting / alignment experience
Desirable Skills
* Completed a hands‑on apprenticeship training programme
* HNC or HND qualification (or equivalent)
* Experience in heavy industry manufacturing
* Knowledge of cutting and grinding regulations
* Arc and MIG welding / basic fabrication skills
* Electrical control systems experience
