Job Description:
To provide through professional practice as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner for primary health care services for students, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention sexual and reproductive wellness and management of common gynecological conditions. To incorporate high quality developmentally appropriate, gender inclusive reproductive and gynecological care through collaboration with Student Health Services physicians. Given the nature of the positions in Student Engagement & Enrollment Services that provide support to student services and/or student-centered programs, the employee occupying this position may be required to work during a university closing. There may be occasions where the employee will be asked to work during university closings as directed by their supervisor. These instances may include working from a remote location (i.e. telework, etc.). Minimum Qualifications:
1. Completion of an educational program leading toward licensure and certification as a nurse practitioner. Master’s degree in nursing or health related field.
2. Licensed and certified, or eligible for licensing/certification, as a women's health nurse practitioner in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Eligible for prescriptive authority or licensed to prescribe as a nurse practitioner in the State of Virginia. For physician assistant, must meet qualifications for approval of prescriptive authority per VA Board of Medicine regulations.
3. Knowledge and understanding of the scope of practice of the women's health care nurse practitioner.
4. Demonstrated clinical skills to provide developmentally appropriate and gender inclusive reproductive and gynecological health care.
5. Demonstrated ability to provide primary women's health care in an interdisciplinary collaborative setting.
6. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Additional Considerations:
7. Preferred experience as a women's health nurse practitioner in a primary care setting.
8. Preferred experience with electronic health records.
9. Experience in a university Student Health Service preferred.
