Description
Maldon District Council is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Environmental Health Practitioner to work within our busy, multi-skilled Environmental Protection team.
The post holder will be expected to provide a range of environmental protection activities, (Air Quality, PPC, Contaminated Land, PWS, Noise and Nuisance etc), working with the Environmental Health Manager (Environmental Protection) to ensure performance targets are achieved and deadlines are met. The post holder will have a caseload of complex cases and is expected to manage the vast majority of work under their own initiative. They must provide technical advice and decision making in all aspects of the role, including taking formal action where applicable. Collaborating closely with stakeholders and community partners, you will support the development and implementation of policies and initiatives that promote environmental protection and community resilience.
We are looking for someone who is registered with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health as either a Chartered or Registered Environmental Health Practitioner and ideally you will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience.

They must provide technical advice and decision making in all aspects of the role, including taking formal action where applicable.

About this role
The key requirements of this role are to:
* Be responsible for environmental protection matters, including air quality, noise control, contaminated land, private water supplies and statutory nuisances.
* Undertake investigations, provide specialist advice, and enforce legislation relating to environmental protection.
* Address complaints and respond to service requests, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
* Work collaboratively with other departments, agencies, and stakeholders to deliver effective environmental health services.
* Promote sustainable practices and public awareness of environmental health issues.
* Lead on projects within the team functions.
* Review existing, new and upcoming legislation and ensure that the Council has systems and procedures in place to meet legal compliance and other requirements.
* Support the development of the Environmental Protection Team’s policies, procedures and arrangements to ensure they are up to date and compliant.
* Own key professional and technical stakeholder relationships with external agencies, including enforcement agencies, and work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation.
* Ensure all statutory activities are completed in good time and service objectives are met through effective time management.
* Provide advice, training, coaching and mentoring to support development and succession planning within the team.
* Contribute to the continuous identification and implementation of service improvements within the team to help increase customer satisfaction levels and improve service delivery.
