Our client, a renowned educational institution in Openshaw, Manchester, is seeking a talented and dedicated Full-time Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN) Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional support to students with diverse communication and language needs, ensuring they thrive academically and socially. As the SLCN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with our client's experienced teaching staff, collaborating to develop and implement tailored learning strategies that cater to the unique needs of each student. Your ability to foster a nurturing and inclusive environment will be crucial as you assist in the delivery of specialised lessons, interventions, and support programmes. Key responsibilities of the SLCN Teaching Assistant role include: - Providing one-on-one and small-group support to students with speech, language, and communication needs, helping them to overcome barriers and achieve their full potential. - Collaborating with teachers, speech and language therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for students. - Delivering targeted interventions and activities that address students' specific communication and language difficulties, such as speech sound development, vocabulary building, and social communication skills. - Monitoring and documenting student progress, and regularly communicating with teachers and parents to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to student support. - Assisting with classroom management and providing general support to teachers, as needed, to ensure a smooth and effective learning environment. - Participating in professional development opportunities and staying up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in the field of SLCN support. To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong understanding of speech, language, and communication development, as well as experience working with students who have diverse learning needs. A passion for making a positive difference in the lives of children, excellent communication skills, and a patient, empathetic approach are also essential.
