We are working with a GOOD secondary school in Southend to find them a Head of Department for September or October start date for the right candidate. The department currently has 9 Maths teachers and is one of the biggest departments at the school. The school are looking for a new Head of Department, to push the team on, to take those next steps to go from GOOD to OUTSTANDING. If you are an experienced teacher looking for the next step in your progression, experienced second in department of Head of department looking for a new school, then this could be the role for you.

About the Role

We are ideally looking for an experienced, high-performing Head of Department with a track record of impact. However, we would also consider:

• An exceptional Teacher of Maths, or
• A strong Second in Department (2i/c) ready for progression

We recognise that the right candidate may have a notice period, so we are happy to offer flexibility with a start date up to October 2026 if needed.

• A large, collaborative team of 9 Maths specialists
• Includes a Second in Charge, Lead Practitioner, and a Deputy Headteacher who is a Maths specialist
