Rate of Pay: £12.50 - £16.16 per hour
Summary:
The Grounds Maintenance Operative is responsible for maintaining council-owned green spaces, parks, housing estates, and public areas to a high standard. The role involves carrying out a variety of horticultural and grounds maintenance tasks to ensure outdoor areas are safe, clean, and visually presentable for residents and visitors.
Responsibilities:
* Carry out routine grounds maintenance including grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, and pruning.
* Maintain parks, open spaces, and housing estates to agreed standards.
* Undertake planting, weeding, watering, and general horticultural tasks.
* Collect and remove green waste and litter from designated areas.
* Use and maintain gardening tools and powered equipment safely and effectively.
* Inspect outdoor areas and report any hazards, damage, or maintenance issues.
Essentials:
* Basic knowledge of gardening techniques and plant care
* Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
* Experience using grounds maintenance equipment such as mowers, strimmers, and hedge cutters.
* Good understanding of health and safety practices.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
