Job Summary

Are you passionate about facilities and workplace management?

Do you want to play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of a dynamic organisation?

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is a non-ministerial department of over 1600 people. We play a critical role in protecting public health and consumers’ wider interests in food across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our vision is an important one - to drive change, delivering “food you can trust” and working towards a healthier and more sustainable food system.

We are looking for a professional Facilities and Workplace Manager to join our team overseeing our offices across our estate. It’s a great time to join us as we undertake an exciting move of our central London office - a major focus of this London-based role.

Job Description

As our Facilities and Workplace Manager, you will lead the lease management of FSA’s estate portfolio of five offices across the country, including our partnership with the Government Property Agency (GPA). This role is crucial in delivering workplace services to our people on both a day-to-day and strategic basis, focusing on optimising the use and management of all properties, buildings and workplaces.

You will oversee operational oversight, delivered either directly or through the GPA, and manage all aspects of hard and soft facilities management services, including contract and supplier management. You’ll also plan and deliver maintenance and minor works programmes, acting as the key customer interface across our estate in partnership with FSA teams, such as Health, Safety and Wellbeing, Culture and Development and the GPA.

You’ll deliver the Estates Programme to reduce the accommodation footprint in line with lease events or landlords' expectations and be accountable for building-related health and safety, business continuity, and sustainability requirements, and also manage key contracts. You’ll enjoy leading customer engagement with building users and government stakeholders to ensure excellent services for our staff.

We offer a challenging and rewarding role in a dynamic environment, with the opportunity to make a significant impact on the FSA’s operations. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive team culture, with a competitive salary and benefits package. If you are passionate about facilities management and want to be part of a team that makes a difference, we would love to hear from you.

Working pattern guidance

If applying as a job share partnership you should both complete separate application forms on Civil Service Jobs but should make it clear that you are applying as job sharers. Further details on job sharing can be found here JSF – What is the recruitment process for job sharers?, Civil Service Careers (civil-service-careers.gov.uk)

Applicants who wish to work compressed hours are welcome to apply - however your preferred working pattern may not be available and you should discuss this with the vacancy holder before applying.
