Overview
Management Accountant (Contract 6–12 months) £50-55K plus benefits, 6-12 months, West Bromwich (4 days in the office, 1 from home).
An established UK manufacturing SME is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join the finance function on a 6–12 month contract. This is a hands-on role supporting the senior leadership team with high quality management information, commercial insight, and financial control during a key period for the business.
This role would suit a commercially focused finance professional who enjoys working closely with operational and production teams in a fast paced SME environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including detailed variance analysis and commentary
* Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, including rolling forecasts
* Deliver product costing, margin analysis, and manufacturing variance reporting
* Monitor inventory valuation, working capital, and cash flow forecasts
* Provide financial insight to support pricing decisions, contract reviews, and commercial negotiations
* Work closely with operations, production, and engineering teams to align financial and operational performance
* Support year-end processes, audit preparation, and statutory reporting
* Maintain strong financial controls and data integrity across finance and ERP systems
* Assist with CAPEX appraisals and business cases for improvement and investment projects
* Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes, systems, and reporting
* Oversee or support monthly payroll processing, ensuring compliance with HMRC and statutory requirements
About you
* Qualified, Part Qualified or QBE Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent)
* Strong background in management accounting, ideally within manufacturing or operational environments
* Proven experience delivering management accounts, budgets, and forecasts
* Solid understanding of cost control, product costing, and variance analysis
* Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical capability
* Comfortable working in an SME environment with senior operational stakeholders
* Experience supporting audits and statutory reporting processes
* Ability to hit the ground running and add value quickly in a contract role
* Duration: 6–12 months
