Residential Child Care Worker | Part Time | Evergreen Lodge, South Ribble
Lancashire County Council is hiring two part-time Residential Child Care Workers (RCCWs) for Evergreen Lodge Children’s Residential Respite Unit. We support children with severe learning disabilities, physical disabilities, complex health and behaviour issues, and Autism. The role focuses on meeting each child’s social, emotional, intellectual, cultural and physical needs and helping them reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
* Build effective working relationships with children; work well in a team; maintain clear records and communicate effectively.
* Assess the needs of children visiting Evergreen Lodge for short breaks; plan, implement and review care plans with the staff team.
* Collaborate with other agencies (education, social workers, health professionals) to promote the needs of the children.
* Support children with transitions to future placements.
* Work varied shifts including weekends and evenings; sleep-in duties with an accompanying allowance.
* Attend staff meetings and training as appropriate.
* Wear PPE when supporting children with personal care due to vulnerability.
Hours, Salary and Benefits
Role type: Permanent, Part Time
Hours: 30 hours per week and 17 hours per week (two vacancies), with shift patterns typically including mornings (7am-11am) or 3pm-11pm and occasional evenings (2pm-10pm).
Salary: £28,142 - £32,061 per annum (pro rata) with 15% enhancements.
Location: Evergreen Lodge
Note: The quoted salary is full-time equivalent; pay is pro-rata for part-time hours.
International sponsorship: This role is not open to international sponsorship.
DBS and disclosures: The post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order; successful applicants will be required to apply to the DBS for a disclosure. Further information available in the recruitment process.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Ability to build trusting relationships with vulnerable children and to work effectively within a team.
* Good communication, record-keeping and administrative skills.
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and sleep-in duties; training as required.
* Understanding of safeguarding and health and safety, including PPE use during personal care.
