Supporting Children at the Very Start of Their Learning Journey

We are seeking a caring, proactive, and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Slough, starting as soon as possible. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to support children in the Early Years Foundation Stage, helping them develop the confidence, curiosity, and foundational skills needed for future success in education.

The successful candidate will work closely with EYFS teachers to support children in Nursery and Reception, contributing to a nurturing, engaging, and well-structured learning environment. The school places strong emphasis on play-based learning, positive relationships, and early development of communication, social, and emotional skills. Staff are committed to ensuring that every child feels safe, supported, and valued.

You will be part of a dedicated Early Years team that works collaboratively to deliver high-quality provision. The school values consistency, patience, and enthusiasm, and is looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young children during these formative years.

The Role

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will support children throughout the school day, assisting with learning activities, routines, and transitions. You will help children access learning through structured play, small group work, and one-to-one support where required.

You will also play an important role in supporting children’s personal, social, and emotional development, encouraging independence, positive behaviour, and communication skills. Working closely with the class teacher, you will help prepare resources, observe children’s progress, and contribute to a positive and stimulating classroom environment.

-----------------------------------

Key Responsibilities

* Support the delivery of the EYFS curriculum through play-based and structured activities

* Work with individual pupils and small groups to support learning and development

* Assist with observations and recording of pupil progress

* Help maintain a safe, engaging, and welcoming learning environment

* Support children with routines, transitions, and personal care where required

* Encourage positive behaviour, social skills, and independence

* Prepare and organise classroom resources and learning activities

* Work collaboratively with teachers and other Early Years staff

-----------------------------------

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

* Have experience working with young children, ideally in an EYFS setting

* Be patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic

* Have good communication and teamwork skills

* Be reliable, organised, and proactive

* Show a strong understanding of child development

* Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Relevant EYFS or childcare qualifications are desirable but not essential.

-----------------------------------

Why Join This School?

* A supportive and experienced Early Years team

* Opportunities for professional development and training

* A positive, child-centred school ethos

* Well-resourced classrooms and outdoor learning spaces

* Leadership that values staff wellbeing and development

* A welcoming and inclusive school community

-----------------------------------

Location

The school is based in Slough, with excellent transport links and a diverse local community. Staff benefit from working in a professional, supportive environment where collaboration and inclusion are central.
